Poem 3 – A Poem For Me

Poem Three (3) is for all those who have never had a poem written for you. It’s also for all those who have had a poem written for them. This poem is your poem. This poem is my poem. This poem is everyone’s poem. This poem is our poem… All of us, teachers and students, students and teachers, “Monday I Will See You, In Class”.

****

You’re writing a poem for me?
Is that a question or a statement?
Call it whatever you like.
I think I’ll call it honesty,
And that’s my best judgement.
Oh what a lucky strike,
You’re writing a poem for me!

Show me what you wrote,
I can’t wait to hear it.
I know the poem will be lovely!
The poem is in your coat
But first, please, will you sit?
The poem, I first read, to me.
Show me what you wrote!

January and February, long gone
The month of March is tomorrow
The time for school is here.
Chilean Summer, fun, is done.
Is this my poem, to lend or to borrow?
The school days are near.
January and February, long gone!

Monday I will see you, in class
Please,this poem, bring,
Also, paper and pen
There will be no looking glass
We’ll form a reading ring.
Read, line one to line ten.
Monday I will see you, in class!

Teacher, I will see you Monday.
Student, I will see you at school
Teacher, I will see you on Tuesday
Student, isn’t school real cool?
Teacher, I will see you on Wednesday,
Student, don’t forget the rule.
Teacher, I will see you on Thursday.
Student, bring a writing tool
Teacher, I will see you on Friday.
Student, read, and to no one, be cruel…
****
Best regards,
Thomas
