TESOL Arabia. Back to the future, again we go, on a hunt for a treasured memory.

“Let’s walk down the hallowed halls of historical SpellEvent, all the way back, as far back as time and space allow us, shall we?”

Where are we?

“Shhh. Quiet please. We’re here.”

Where? Where is here?

“TESOL Arabia.”

What’s the date?

“Saturday, 07 July, 2007.”

OK. Now I see how we got here so fast. What time is it?

“It’s 13:54, and will you be quiet? The kids are trying to spell some really hard words!”

The Franklin Educational Electronic Manufacturer in cooperation with the global TESOL and TESOL Arabia held the first UAE Global Spellevent at Dubai Men’s College, today April 24th, 2010. The event was well-received by the Franklin and TESOL representatives, as well as, the students, teachers and parents.

Wait a minute. How can we be in 2007, and the SpellEvent is happening in 2010?

(shrugging my shoulders) “I told you we were going back to the future. Well, we’re there.”

Where’s there?

Wait a minute. Are we here or are we there?

“Shhh. The President of TESOL Arabia is speaking.”

Finally, I would like to thank Franklin in general, and Aline and Maritza, in particular, and John Sagota and Jane Hoelker, from Global TESOL for choosing UAE and TESOL Arabia to organize this event.

Everyone enjoyed the event and made it a learning day out, hoping that spelling would be the new culture in the schools around the area.

Again, on behalf of everyone at TESOL Arabia and the Executive Commitee, I thank you and hope that this event would continue in the future.

With Best Regards,

Dr. Sufian Abu-Rmaileh
