Peter Elbow on Writing:

Dr Peter Elbow

“Writing is making sense of life.” Nadine Gordimer

Brilliant! Simple, honest, unashamed. Those words are used to describe the video you are about to see by a previous viewer on Youtube. I concur with all three, because you find an amazing person sharing the story of becoming a writer.

Dr. Peter Elbow, University of Massachusetts is the person we are discussing. His first book on writing was entitled, “Writing Without Teachers”. He is also the author of four other books about writing and the writing process. Peter Elbow talks directly to students about the process of writing. Beginning with his own early difficulties with writing as a college student, Elbow provides insights into how one can work through writing problems. In the video, among other things, he will talk about:

Failure
Learning from failure
Creating and Criticizing
Freewriting

Enjoy the video with an absolute master…
