What to do if you don’t have a Kindle Cloud Reader or Kindle for PC

Danila Merino Paredes: “I don’t have credit cards…I need one even if for free…

Hi Danila, The free Kindle for PC is really free. You don’t have to buy anything. You are able to set up an account, and then download my four free Kindle books, without buying the Kindle. To set up the account, they ask for a credit card, so, the question is what to do about that.

There are many possible solutions, and all of them depend on you to decide what might be the best option, since many authors make copies of their books available for free, from time to time, as a way to thank their readers and as a promotional tool.

I would probably suggest that you get a family member to sponsor your free Kindle reading. Your family member (mother, father, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, etc.) could set up the account and then let you use it to download free Kindle books (free means free $0.00).

Any purchase you decide to make should be fully discussed in advance and agreed upon in advance, otherwise there would be problems.

Another possibility is to be patient and wait until the time comes when you are able to have your own credit card and then have independent responsibility for yourself without involving one of your close relationships.

Another option might be to let the people in your social circle know that you would like to have some free books from Amazon Kindle. It is possible that someone, knows someone, who knows someone who would be willing to help you out by downloading the free books. There would be no cost involved.

Well, I hope that helped. Anyway, in 2014, Amazon is coming to Chile, and that should make things a whole lot easier for people in Chile to get good quality books, in print and digital, for low prices…

The free Kindle for PC lets you:

Read e-books & e-Textbooks:

Choose from a large selection of Kindle e-books and e-textbooks to read with the Kindle for PC app and avoid the hassle of carrying around heavy books and textbooks.

Sync to Furthest Page Read:

Whispersync technology automatically syncs your books across apps, so you can start reading on one device with the Kindle app installed, and pick up where you left off on another device with the Kindle app installed. You don’t need to own a Kindle to use the app, but if you do, Whispersync also syncs your Kindle books between your apps (including the Kindle for PC app) and your Kindle devices.

Look Up Words:

Use the built-in dictionary in the Kindle for PC app to look up the definition of words without interrupting your reading.

Search in Books:

Search inside any book to find a topic, character, or section you want to revisit.

Look Up Book Facts:

Access descriptions of characters, important places, popular quotes, and themes from Shelfari, the community-powered encyclopedia for book-lovers.
