The Idea Behind Indiegogo
When our founders joined forces in 2007, they had diverse backgrounds and varied interests. However, they had one important thing in common: Danae, Eric and Slava each tried to raise money for something they were passionate about, but they came up short. They had great ideas, the passion to work hard, and good networks, yet access to funding through traditional channels proved limited. The trio was determined to find a solution to the problem. Indiegogo was born; the crowdfunding solution that empowers ideas and enables people to donate funds easily.
A novel about the true origins of vampire and werewolves. New and unexpected story premise. Nothing like you’ve read before!
Literatura – Middlewich, United Kingdom
A paranormal, crime novel with a premise none has come up with before, but due to the market being flooded with generic vampire novels mainstream publishing houses shy away from taking on a manuscript in this genre. However I’ve been told by an agent that the story is new and exciting and she would have loved taking it on, but the agency no longer takes takes anything in the genre.
However, after several beta readers have read it and assured me it certainly has every chance of becoming a best-seller, I feel I should try to raise the funds to not only get it professionally edited, but have a really good cover, and after its release have it backed by a great marketing campaign.
And that’s where the crowdfunding is needed for. Editing fees, cover design, and marketing are all things that come at a price. As with all things quality will cost, and I will not settle for mediocrity if the written words deserve the best finishing touch and push onto the shelves money can buy.
Who am I and Why should you back me?
I am Lucy Pireel, the author of Red Gone Bad, A Menu of Death, and Bound. All three well received by the public. But since I never had the funds to really market the books they sell only at a slow pace.
This novel however is worth being put in the market with a bang loud enough to be heard over the static noise the vast amount of other indie books published on a daily basis create.
The £10,000 I aim to raise will go towards:
-hiring a professional editor, who has proven he knows his trade
-hiring a professional cover designer and commissioning an image by a photographer (Lee Turnbull) who knows how to capture a specific feeling.
The formatting of the book is something I will do myself, but after that comes the marketing stage. So a huge chunk of the funding will go to professional marketing tools, such as:
-allocating budget to get professional reviewers to read and review the novel as well as obtain a Kirkus review ($575), and others from professional reviewers.
-acquire a listing on several sites that recommend books to readers.
-hire a social media assistent to really push the book up on the reader’s list and into the public eye, while I can write the next book on my list.
Even if I shouldn’t manage to reach the entire goal, it still would help to get the manuscript edited and published. The release might not be accompanied by a loud bang with less funds, but at least the novel itself will be worth teh reader’s time and money for it will be without errors.
Your contribution will make the difference between this author not being able to hire the best editor for the best paranormal, crime novel you could ever read, or getting a great novel published of which you can say, “I helped realise it.”
This is my first ever crowd sourcing campaign and I’m stumbling in the dark here, but with your help I am sure this will be a success.
The work is done, as in the novel is written, it just needs your help to get it polished and ready to hit the markets.
