#WorldCup When #FIFA Cut #Chile #National #Anthem Short: Watch How Fans Reacted

Chile knocked defending champions Spain out of the World Cup. But that wasn’t the only awesome thing that happened.

FIFA has a rule, stupid or not, that national anthems must be limited to 90 seconds before matches. The Chilean national anthem is more than 90 seconds. When the music stopped, Chile’s fans — who’d traveled to Rio in such large numbers that Chile v. Spain may as well have been taking place in Santiago — finished the anthem in glorious, thundering fashion.

The players were obviously moved. Clearly they were motivated, too. They went on to beat Spain 2-0.
